Image databasing
In-house software development has seen the introduction of
powerful image database packages from Carnival. These have
proven invaluable to large and small organisations with diverse
image libraries.
These Web-oriented databases have given new freedom to the
researcher and flexible access to high and low resolution
images via a browser-based user interface, and we offer extensive
Internet, as well as Intranet, solutions.
The problem facing most companies is that the costs of scanning,
storing and distributing images can be extremely high especially
if the original transparency is “lost in the Post”. We have
solved this by creating a digital master file in RGB Tif format
and keeping the original transparency safely locked away.
We have created a database which is distributed on CD Rom
so that users can publish the picture as they require it.
The philosophy is “Scan once; Use many”.
